Video Find: 2014 Ford Fiesta ST Gets Track Tested

To say we’re excited to get our hands on the 2014 Ford Fiesta ST would be an understatement. The Fiesta ST’s big brother, the 2013 Focus ST, recently wowed us on the track against the Mazdaspeed3 and Subaru Impreza WRX Special Edition, earning it a first-place finish in our comparison test. To show off that the little ST has the same track chops as its big brother, Ford just released a video of the Fiesta ST lapping Ford’s Belgium proving grounds.

The 2014 Fiesta ST is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged I-4 that makes 197 hp and 214 lb-ft of torque. The Fiesta ST also gets a lot of the Focus ST’s hardware, like its trick limited-slip differential and optional Recaro seats.

The video starts with Ford vehicle dynamics specialist David Put strapping into the Fiesta ST’s Recaro and taking off for his lap around the proving ground’s circuit. While lapping the Fiesta ST, Put shows off how agile the pocket rocket is with some opposite-lock drifts, fast sweepers, and sharp turns that pick the Fiesta’s inside-rear wheel up off the ground.

Check out the video for yourself below. The 2014 Fiesta ST will start at $22,195 (including destination) when it goes on sale in the U.S. later this year.
