Thread of the Day: What New Cars Have the Best Names?

An evocative car name is sometimes nearly as important as the quality of the car itself. Take the Ford Mustang — the muscle car’s name was inspired by executive stylist John Najjar, recalling the P-51 Mustang fighter plane from World War II. Had the Mustang been given a different name, would it still have as strong of a following today? After yesterday’s Thread of the Day in which we picked new cars that should be renamed, we’re turning it around: What new cars have the best names?

WOT staff favorites included the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Phantom, and a number of Chrysler vehicles like the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger were named as well. The revived Aston Martin Vanquish name earns a place on our unofficial list of top picks, and the Lamborghini Aventador got a couple votes, too.

The Ford Explorer, Chevrolet Volt, Nissan Rogue, and Nissan Maxima were named as well. In this Thread of the Day, we want to know you think makes a good car name. Tell us: What new cars have the absolute best names?
