While the 1970s may be considered by some to be the automotive dark ages, there are still plenty of desirable models from that time period — from the last of the muscle cars to lightweight Japanese sports cars, and European exotics to large American personal luxury coupes. That means that in today’s fantasy garage question, you’re free to include any car you want – just as long as the model-year’s third digit is a seven.
Motor Trend forum member Sledneck27 challenges you to pick five cars in today’s Thread of the Day. The rules are simple:
Model years 1970 to 1979 only
Production cars only
No more than five vehicles
No price cap
These will theoretically be the only vehicles you own
Some interesting combinations can be made when piecing together a ‘70s car collection. Here are a few examples suggested in the original thread:
1972 Lamborghini Miura SV, 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner 440/6 Pack, 1979 Jeep CJ-7 Renegade, 1979 Jaguar XJ12L, 1979 Ford F-250
1970 Boss 302, 1972 Porsche 911T, 1976 F-250 High-Boy, 1970 Ford Gran Torino, 1979 Ford Bronco
1973 Carrera 2.7 RS, 1970 917K Road Car, 1971 Corvette LS6, 1972 Datsun 510 Sedan, 1971 Pontiac Bonneville 455 Sedan
