image-592
Sales of the Honda Civic continue to climb since its 2013 refresh, with the compact hanging on to the first-place finish it earned in April. Though the Hyundai Elantra came in second place behind the Civic a month prior, the Korean compact slipped two spots behind the Toyota Corolla and Ford Fusion in May. Honda sold 30,268 Civics last month, beating all of its competitors by a wide margin. Although those sales represent a 9.6-percent year-over-year ...

Ford announced today that it will close all of its manufacturing facilities in Australia by 2016, cutting about 1200 jobs. The Broadmeadows Assembly Plant currently builds the Falcon, Falcon Ute, Territory, and Ford Performance Vehicles models. The Geelong Stamping factory creates body parts for the Falcon, ...

image-615
General Motors may have outsold Ford in May 2013 by roughly 6300 cars, but the folks in Dearborn aren’t too distressed. Instead, they’re happy to point out that the 246,585 Ford and Lincoln vehicles sold in the U.S. last month is not only a 14-percent increase over May 2012, but the automaker’s best May sales results in seven years. Better yet, it’s also Ford’s best monthly showing thus far in 2013, beating March’s impressive results ...

image-343
The Ford Escape and Honda CR-V usually duke it out in monthly sales for the compact crossover segment, but as the Escape took the lead with 24,110 units last month, that left the Honda CR-V and Chevrolet Equinox battling for second, and it was a close race.  The bowtie branded CUV fell behind its top Japanese competitor by only 19 units. With 20,668 units sold in February, the CR-V barely took the runner-up position while the ...

Ford Cuts Mulally’s Compensation After Falling Short of 2012 Goals

image-318
2012 proved to be a mixed bag for automakers, with strong sales in North America and some emerging markets, but record losses and low sales in Europe. Unfortunately for Ford, the losses and issues in Europe kept the company from meeting its performance goals for the year. Ford CEO Alan Mulally’s 2012 compensation, while still generous by industry standards, was significantly lower than it was in 2011. Mulally’s $2 million base salary remains unchanged from 2011, ...

The CR-V edged out the Escape by less than 1000 units during the month of October. Meanwhile, the Chevrolet Equinox, with 16,821 units sold, completes the top three. While there was a pretty sizable gap separating the crossovers in the top-three spots, the battle ...
