Shelby Tribute Car Show Scheduled For May 11

May 11 marks the first anniversary of Carroll Shelby’s passing – but rather than mourn his loss, you could spend the day celebrating the man’s legacy by spending a day at tribute car show in Gardena, California.

“Carroll Shelby changed the course of history and touched millions of lives through his racing, his companies, and his charity,” Randy Richards, president of the Los Angeles Shelby American Automobile Club chapter, said in a prepared release. “He challenged us to honor his legacy by continuing his work. This annual event will be a celebration for everyone who shares Carroll’s passion for performance and pursuit of excellence, while also supporting causes he truly believed in.”

The LASAAC and the Carroll Shelby Foundation are organizing the event on Foundation’s premises in Gardena grounds. In addition to a show celebrating Shelbys of all shapes and sizes (i.e. bring out your Cobra, your GT350, your GT40, or your GLHS), the event also includes a chili bar, a celebratory “rev-off” at 1 pm, and a panel discussion with racers John Morten, Alan Grant, and other special guests.

The Shelby Tribute Show runs 10 AM to 2 pm on May 11. Admission is free, but a $10 donation – which goes to benefit the Carroll Shelby Foundation, which works to assist children undergoing heart and kidney transplants — nets visitors a commemorative show decal. The registration fee for Shelby owners looking to display their cars is $20, which also goes to benefit the Shelby Foundation.
