Formula One fanatics won’t be the only ones drawn in to theaters this September, when the Ron Howard-directed film Rush Rush Formula One Car Front View 300x187 imagemakes its big screen debut.  Inspired by real events that took place during the 1976 racing season, Rush brings to life the rivalry between Formula One drivers Niki Lauda and James Hunt. Lauda is involved in a deadly crash at the 1976 German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring, and is badly burned. But fueled by an intense competitive streak, Lauda makes a dramatic comeback to race that same season.

While Formula One enthusiasts are a natural audience, Rush looks to have all the intrigue of a major Hollywood film, and will likely appeal to a broader audience, much the way Senna did. Written by Peter Morgan of The Queen and Frost/Nixon fame, and directed by Howard, Rush opens September 20, 2013. You can check out the trailer below:
