Nissan Altima is March’s Best-Selling Midsize Sedan

Toyota sold 37,663 Camrys last month, but it wasn’t enough to stay on top of the midsize segment. With sales totaling 37,763, just 100 more than the Camry, the Nissan Altima was the best-selling midsize player in March. Despite this small setback, Toyota can take solace in the fact that Camry’s year-to-date total is 100,830, far beyond the Altima’s and Accord’s total around 80,000.

Next is the Ford Fusion (30,284 sold), which dropped a spot in the rankings compared to February’s report. In fifth and sixth place are the Chevrolet Malibu and Hyundai Sonata with 18,539 and 18,031 units sold respectively. The Chrysler 200 got a big boost last month with 16,593 units sold, compared to just 11,446 during February.

The Kia Optima (14,366) and Dodge Avenger (12,439) placed eighth and ninth in the rankings, though the Optima could see a boost in sales later this year when the refreshed model arrives in showrooms. Finally, the Volkswagen Passat, Mazda6, and Subaru Legacy round off the bottom three with 9521, 6102, and 4400 units sold respectively. The Mazda also experienced a big bump in sales last month, compared to just 2702 units during the month of February.
