Honda CR-V Is Best-Selling CUV In April 2013

It appears the Honda CR-V got tired of being second-best for the first three months of this year, as the Japanese CUV snubbed the first position from the Ford Escape with 26,519 units sold in April. Below those two rivals, the Chevrolet Equinox (20,965 units sold) sat comfortably in the third spot once again.

Stationed at the fourth and fifth spots are the Toyota RAV4 (18,541) and Nissan Rogue (11,904), respectively; both have remained there for several months now. The Subaru Forester stayed steady in sixth place with 9366 CUVs moved off the lot, with the Terrain behind it with 7964 units. Even though the Subaru finished ahead of the Equinox’s cousin, it has a long way to go before it can begin to catch up with the Terrain’s year-to-date sales (34,770 units). Combine Terrain and Equinox sales for April and GM pushes past the CR-V.

The fuel-efficient Mazda CX-5 also had a good month with 6262 units sold, allowing it to move up to eighth place ahead of the Jeep Patriot (5792 units). The Jeep Compass should watch its back as well. Still a new player in the segment, the Subaru Crosstrek (4433 units) added pressure on the tenth-place Compass by coming in only 32 units behind it. The Crosstrek beat others including the Tucson and the Sportage, which jumped ahead of the Tiguan and Juke in April. As for combined sales of the Mini Countryman and Paceman, 95 of the 1959 cute utes sold were the two-door.
