Hennessey Turns Up the Heat on the Ford Taurus SHO

When we typically think of Hennessey, Vipers, CTS-Vs and Raptors come to mind, and of course, the epic Venom GT. But those aren’t the only options the company offers. And if you don’t have a five-to-six figure tuning budget, Hennessey still offers a reasonably wallet-friendly option to get your kicks. If you’re the owner of a Ford Taurus SHO, and crave just a little more kick than is offered by the stock configuration, Hennessey’s got the fix for your need for speed.

Aside from a Car Craft-like jettisoning of the back seat, door panels and other “unnecessary” ballast, there’s not much that can be done about the weight. But especially with the easy tuning inherent in turbocharged engines, you can always add more power, and that’s just what Hennessey did. Horsepower goes from 365 to 445, and torque from 350 to 405 in the company’s MaxBoost 445 transformation.

With the extra infusion of horsepressure, performance goes from good to outstanding, putting the MaxBoost Taurus in the same company as the contemporary BMW 550i, and quicker than such one-time greats as the 1991 Porsche 911 Turbo, 1990 Lamborghini Diablo, and the 1996 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport.

Below is a video of one of Hennessey’s earlier examples of a Lincoln MKS. With the transverse 3.5 EcoBoost now available in the Lincoln MKT, MKS, and the Ford Flex and Explorer, in addition to the SHO, there are potentially many different packages to get your MaxBoost fix. Horsepower is rarely free, and the MaxBoost 445 package isn’t either. But $4495 for 80 hp and 55 lb-ft of torque doesn’t seem like all that bad a deal to us.
