Ford Offering Focus ST, Fiesta ST Test Drives At EcoBoost Challenge

Want to get behind the wheel of a Ford Focus ST or the upcoming Fiesta ST? The Blue Oval will give fans a chance this summer with a thirteen-city tour called the EcoBoost Challenge. In addition to driving the hot hatchbacks, the EcoBoost challenge will also let drivers test Ford hybrid vehicles.

Each of the Ford EcoBoost Challenge events will also feature a special “hypermiling” course, with instructors showing drivers how to get the best fuel economy in Ford hybrid cars, as well as test tracks set up to allow drivers to compare EcoBoost vehicles with competitive models from other manufacturers.

Of course, we’re most interested in the opportunity to drive the Ford Focus ST and Fiesta ST hot hatches. The Fiesta ST has a 1.6-liter turbo-four good for 197 hp and 214 lb-ft of torque, while the Ford Focus ST has a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine rated for 252 hp and 270 lb-ft. Last year, Ford ran a similar program called the ST Performance Academy that let car enthusiasts sample the Focus ST before it went on sale.

Click here to sign up for the Ford EcoBoost Challenge nearest you. The event is free, but space is limited. Programs will be held from June through September in Boston; Washington, D.C.; Chicago; San Francisco; Los Angeles; New York City; Charlotte, North Carolina; Atlanta; Dallas; Orlando, Florida; Houston; Miami; and Minneapolis.
