We’ve always though that the U.S. could use more pint-sized pocket rockets, and Ford seems to agree. The Blue Oval’s 2014 Fiesta ST will be joining the Fiat 500 Abarth here in the U.S. later this year. Ahead of its debut, Ford has just released a quick video of the new Fiesta ST on a hot lap at its Belgian test facility.

The 2014 Fiesta ST is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged I-4 that makes 197 hp and 214 lb-ft of torque. The Fiesta ST also gets a lot of the Focus ST’s hardware, like its trick limited-slip differential and optional Recaro seats.

The video starts with Ford vehicle dynamics specialist David Put strapping into the Fiesta ST’s Recaro and taking off for his lap around the proving ground’s circuit. While lapping the Fiesta ST, Put shows off how agile the pocket rocket is with some opposite-lock drifts, fast sweepers, and sharp turns that pick the Fiesta’s inside-rear wheel up off the ground.

Check out the video for yourself below. The 2014 Fiesta ST will start at $22,195 (including destination) when it goes on sale in the U.S. later this year.
