Chevrolet Camaro Leads March Sports Car Sales

The Chevrolet Camaro is again the best-selling sports car in the U.S., edging out its crosstown pony car rivals at Ford and Dodge for first place. Together, the three American muscle cars lead the sub-$100,000 sports car segment, besting vehicles like the Scion FR-S and Nissan 370Z.

Even though an updated model is just around the corner, the Chevrolet Camaro still leads the segment by a decent margin with 8102 sold last month, bringing its year-to-date total to 19,198. Though the Ford Mustang was right behind the Camaro with 7688 units sold, the Dodge Challenger had a record sales month, yet still finished third.

Fourth place last month went to the hot-selling Scion FR-S, with 1828 sold (4640 so far this year), while fifth place belongs to the Audi A5 range, with 1628 in sales in March 2013. The rest of the top 10 was rounded out by the outgoing C6 Chevrolet Corvette (1053 sold), Porsche 911 (990 sold), Subaru BRZ (905 sold), Nissan 370Z (669 sold), and the BMW 1 Series (594 sold).

As for the new SRT Viper’s three-unit sales,   production started just last week.

Before you scroll down to check out the full list, we have some housekeeping first: to be included on this list a car must have two doors, start near or under $100,000, and for simplicity’s sake, cannot be a hot hatch. Also, cars like the Lotus Evora and Hyundai Genesis Coupe aren’t included because of incomplete data.
