LIVONIA, Michigan — The 2014 Roush Ford Mustangs can be upgraded with everything from an $8,250 Ford Racing Aluminator forged engine for the Roush Stage 3 Mustang to $15,500 Roush custom exterior paint.
Tim Wheeler, vice president of sales and marketing at Roush Performance, told Edmunds on Tuesday that the typical Roush Performance buyer spends $54,000-$56,000 in total to upgrade the base Mustang GT, including the car.
A loaded Roush Stage 3 Mustang goes out the door at around $75,000.
Roush announced details and pricing on its customized 2014 Ford Mustangs on Tuesday.
Buyers can expect to pay $17,000 for Roush core components on the 2014 Roush Stage 3 Mustang, above the vehicle’s base price and not including a $900 Roush destination charge and a $1,000 gas-guzzler tax for the Stage 3 car. The 2014 base Mustang GT coupe starts at $31,545, including a $795 destination charge.
Roush core components include a 575-horsepower 5.0-liter powertrain system, performance-tuned suspension system, a hood scoop and rear deck-lid spoiler. Options include a $2,150 Stage 3 interior package that bundles leather seating with Stage 3 embroidery and a $3,500 Roush competition brake package.
The Aluminator forged engine is described as a “serious upgrade option for Mustang owners who want even more power to play with.”
The Aluminator engine sets the base for the 625-hp Roush Phase 2 package or the 675-hp Roush Phase 3 package.
