image-116
The 18th-annual Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance took place this past weekend, and in one of the show's biggest years yet (bringing in more than 25,000 spectators and attracting more than 300 vehicles), two powerhouses ended up winning the judges' hearts. The top Concours d'Elegance award went to a 1936 Duesenberg SJN, while the Concours de Sport went to one of the celebrated marques, a 1968 Ford GT40. Owned by Helen and Jack Nethercutt of Sylmar, CA, ...

Ford Motor Company reported a sales increase last month, making a change after the Blue Oval posted several months of nearly flat sales figures. Total sales in November reached 177,673, up 6.5 percent year-over-year. As a result of the strong sales, as well as other financial indicators, Ford said that it will boost its first-quarter 2013 production schedule to 750,000 vehicles, up 11 percent compared to the first quarter of this year. Ford — 171,941 sales, ...

Ranch Dressing: 2013 Ford F-150 King Ranch vs. 2014 Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition

image-395
Toyota kicked off the 2013 Chicago Auto show by announcing substantial updates to its Tundra truck. Along with new styling inside and out plus updated ergonomics and electronics, the 2014 Tundra receives two premium trim levels above Limited: Platinum and 1794 Edition. The latter attempts to establish a link to America’s farming roots (paging Paul Harvey) and take market share currently dominated by Ford and its fancy F-150 King Ranch editions. Why 1794? That’s the founding ...

Redesigned Ford Edge Crossover Shown by Accident in Corporate Presentation

image-373
With the debut of the 2013 Ford Fusion last year, we knew that the next-generation Ford Edge crossover — which is based on the Fusion — couldn’t be far behind. Now, we have our first look at the more fashionable 2015 Ford Edge, thanks to Ford’s own presentation. There’s a fair bit to chew over in this presentation, which was apparently given to analysts at Deutsche Bank, but the second-generation Ford Edge caught our eyes. Like ...

Project Ugly Horse: Part V

image-217
The Slippery Slope I've had a healthy appreciation for cars that stop since one truly unfortunate incident with a runaway 1971 Lincoln Continental. It's funny how quickly a party can turn from, 'We're all having blast' to 'What happened to the front of the house, and how many stitches do you think this is going to take?' Standing in a Mustang salvage shop in Kodak, Tennessee, I couldn't help but feel I had strayed into the latter ...

Official: 197-HP 2014 Ford Fiesta ST Coming to U.S. – 2012 L.A. Auto Show

image-547
Ford has finally confirmed what we’ve suspected for quite a while: the 2014 Ford Fiesta ST will come stateside in the 2013 calendar year. Packing an estimated 197 hp and 214 lb-ft of torque, the Fiesta ST could be seen as a competitor to the Chevrolet Sonic RS as well as to compact-segment sporty front-drivers. The subcompact hot hatch is debuting at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. Not surprisingly, the 2014 Ford Fiesta ST release ...

United States Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced today that he will be resigning from his position. LaHood was the last Republican in Obama’s administration left-over from the President’s first-term in office. Ford engineers going geek, using MakerBot 3D printers for prototype testing

image-392
In an attempt to build future vehicles or improve upon current models, many automakers have turned to 3D printers to create and test new prototype parts. Considering how important new cars are, you'd think automakers would spare no expense when acquiring such tools, but Ford is proving that 3D printers are not only affordable, but that they could someday become a household answer for many problems. To show just how fast and easy the process works, ...

image-223
February marked a surprising return to form for U.S. auto sales, as demand for big trucks, SUVs and crossovers helped the erstwhile Big Three outperform their mainstream rivals—pretty much. Overall, Ford led the way in terms of growth rates among all mainstream companies, with a 9.3 percent increase that reflected 195,822 sales; General Motors enjoyed a 7.2 percent improvement, on 224,314 sales; and the Chrysler Group, while it did manage to grow sales for the 35th ...

2014 Ford Fiesta Priced from $14,795

image-65
What hasn’t been said about the Ford Fiesta already: It’s fun, practical, fuel-efficient, and among the cheaper new cars available. But it’s moving up the price ladder just a little bit. In receiving a significant update with a new Aston Martin-style grille highlighting the biggest exterior change, the 2014 Ford Fiesta is also getting a price increase, now starting at $14,795, including $795 ...
