2005-2009 Mustang Gets Shelby Wide Body Kit

Shelby may have turned its attention to the Ford Focus and F-150 lines lately, but it hasn’t forgotten the Mustang faithful. Shelby American announced this week that its 2013 Shelby GT500 wide body kit will now be available for owners of 2005-2009 Ford Mustangs.

The fiberglass body kit is designed to enhance the look of the 2005-2009 Mustang and be functional, as well. The package adds up to six inches of extra fender, which will allow Mustang owners to put massive 13-inch wide wheels (allowing for 345-width rear tires) on in back and 10-inch wide wheels up front. The kit includes a new fuel door, tools, and installation instructions, though Shelby recommends that the wide body kit only be installed by a professional body shop.

The wide body kit will come as either a rear-only or a full package. The rear-only kit retails for $3399, while the full kit goes for $5999, not including the cost for wheels and tires. Shelby says the same kit will be made available for 2010-2014 Mustangs this summer, though we’ve yet to hear back from Shelby on how much that kit will cost.
